Discipleship Classes
Several times during the year we offer topical Discipleship Classes for Adults. Usually meeting on Wednesday evenings, we have covered studies related to Prayer, Servant Leadership, Spiritual Disciplines, Bible Book Studies, Missions, and other topical studies. These classes will be announced in Upcoming Events.
Adults Ministry
Believe is an outstanding curriculum that leads each participant through a unique spiritual growth experience. We will be able to walk through 10 key beliefs of the Christian faith, the 10 key practices of a Jesus-follower, and the 10 key virtues that characterize someone who is becoming more like Jesus.
As we move through this program each of us will be encouraged to ask three questions:
• WHAT DO I BELIEVE?
• WHAT SHOULD I DO?
• WHO AM I BECOMING?
Each week we will use topical passages from Scripture to help us fully live out the story of the Bible. Each week, by walking through the Scripture, we will learn over and over again that what you believe drives everything we say and do.
The foundation of this study will help us create a strong foundation of Belief as a community. Together, as a church, we will grow towards Christ and towards each other. We will know what we believe and exactly why we believe it.
We are excited about what the Believe study will mean for our adults but we are also excited about what our children will learn. The preschool, children, preteens and youth will use a corresponding curriculum as they begin to discuss what they believe and why they believe it. We think this is truly a wonderful gift to give our children!
The first section, Think, encourages us to learn to think like Jesus. The second section, Act, teaches us how to fulfill the mission to love God and to love our neighbor better. The last section, Be, will help to instill the ten key virtues God desires to see developed in our lives.
The curriculum is designed to be family friendly so that the learning continues all week. Parents will be encouraged to share what they are learning, read weekly family pages, and schedule time together outside of church to reflect upon and implement the week’s lessons. This study is meant to engage us in church and when we are home.
We hope you will make Sunday mornings and this program of Believe a priority in 2024. We are excited for our personal growth, our growth as families, and our growth as a church community. So join us at 10:00 AM on Sunday mornings as we journey through God’s word together. Bring your family – Bring a friend – as we discover the ten Key Beliefs of the Christian Faith, the ten key Practices of a Jesus-follower, and the ten Key Virtues that characterize someone who is becoming more like Jesus.
Children's Ministry
At Pollocksville Baptist Church we believe that children learn about having a relationship with God by being involved in relationships with people who have a relationship with God. As we live lives that are being transformed before our children; they experience the power and presence of God. We provide consistent leaders who connect with our children on a regular basis and guide them in their discovery of God.
We believe children learn and retain the most through experience. We desire to give children an adventure in learning that will impact them for eternity. We provide an experience that is developmentally appropriate, one that involves and engages them in the learning process.
We believe in partnering with parents as they discover God with their children. We desire to provide resources for spiritual development and tools for parents that will help them have spiritual conversations with their children. We believe it is important to provide family activities and intergenerational opportunities for parents and children to grow in their relationship with God.
Children’s Sunday School
Sunday School Classes are available for our children from preschool through sixth grade on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am.
Children & Worship
We encourage children ages five and up to join us in worship on Sunday mornings at 11:00 am. A ‘Children’s Time’ is an important part of our inter-generational worship service. Children also receive a ‘Worship Bag’ each Sunday that provides quiet activities that coordinate with the day’s sermon and scripture passage.
Extended Care
Childcare, if desired, is provided for infants through four year olds during the worship service.
Student Ministry
Currently, our students are meeting from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Sunday mornings with our Associate Pastor, Tanner Brown. During this hour, students explore the Bible for answers and use relatable studies to connect to God and to each other.
Our students are also involved in ministries within the church, serving with our children’s ministry, leading in worship, and providing leadership in our music and technical ministries.
Trail Life USA
Trail Life USA Troop 1211 at Pollocksville Baptist Church is led by James Penuel and other men from our church. The Troop held its first meeting on April 5, 2023. Trail Life USA is a Christ-centered, boy-focused mentoring and discipleship program that partners with local churches to empower men to develop the next generation of character-rich servant leaders through outdoor adventure. Living the Trail Life is a journey for boys and young men established on timeless values derived from the Bible. Set in the context of outdoor adventure and working in patrols within Troops, each young Trailman is challenged to build character and a lifetime of practical leadership skills.
Girls in Action (GA)
GA is a Missions Discipleship group for girls in grades 1–6. The GA Motto is “Go Forward!” and Girls in Action do just that—they grow closer to God as they discover their part in His plan and practice what they learn through hands-on missions opportunities. GA leads girls to a lifelong commitment to Christ, His mission, and His church.
In GA, our girls will learn a Biblical worldview; ways to demonstrate Christ’s love to others; how God is working around the world; and their part in God’s plan.
Currently our GAs meet together on Sunday afternoons.
Women's Missionary Union
Women’s Missionary Union meets the second Tuesday of each month at 2:30 PM. This mission oriented group gathers together to learn about, participate in, and pray for missions and missionaries around the world. For more information contact Sylvia Miller, WMU Leader or call the church office.
Baptist Men
Pollocksville Baptist’s Men’s Fellowship meets the Third Sunday of each month at 8:00 AM for breakfast and a time of devotion and prayer. This gathering takes place in the Fellowship Hall of the church. For more information contact Will Williford, Baptist Men’s Director or call the church office.
Carpenters for Christ
Our Pollocksville Baptist Men gather to meet the needs of families in and around our community. Whether it is to build a wheelchair ramp, assist in home repairs or provide needed yard maintenance, our Baptist Men serve God by attending to those who need help with repairs or projects around the house. These services are often extended to senior adults, those with physical handicaps, etc. If you would like more information about our Baptist Men Ministries please contact Will Williford, Baptist Men’s Director.
